Originating in South Africa, Amarula is crafted from the fruit of the indigenous marula tree, wild fermented and distilled, then blended with dairy cream and sugar. The result is a creamy liqueur with a rich nose of caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, dried apricot and delicate spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is smooth and indulgent: velvety cream, juicy fruit, caramel, with a peppery finish. Bottled at 17% ABV, Amarula is delightful over ice in coffee or over vanilla ice cream evoking a taste of African safari spirit.
